Artist & photographer Heather Ross is known for her wonderful sense of color, keen eye & evocative imagery. For years her work as a textile designer, photographer & stylist has graced the pages of many publications. She opened her atmospheric boutique Heather Ross [in house] in 2001 in the art & antiques district of South Granville, Vancouver. In this inviting space she creates an eclectic mix with art & decor. In 2004 she returned to her love of painting & her work as an emerging artist has been very well received. This is the catalyst for a recent expansion to a more spacious environment next door, where her paintings & photographs have more room to breathe amongst a selective, compelling display of artful belongings. Pure simple ceramics & modern fresh accessories for the home mingle amongst the tactile layers & patinas of textiles & antique finds.
Nature is her constant source of inspiration. This is seen in all she touches - from the found objects she uses in her charming vignettes to her calming color palette. Her paintings, while abstracted, draw upon the elements of earth, water, air & sky, marking our connections to the seasons, the ephemeral qualities of time & place & ultimately to our sense of belonging in the world. The gallery/boutique is a favorite amongst designers, art directors & set decorators who covet Heathers unique vision for bringing unexpected items together with warmth & sensitivity. She dedicates her new space to 'Random acts of beauty'
