Hello,
in a few days time as I write this, my blogging system may change for how this page is posted. Not sure what will transpire or how this page may look for a while. If you are reading this after MAy 1st then the good news is that at least this page remains the same, but my archives may be lost so read now and enjoy : )

Island beauty

We are currently enjoying the raw beauty and grace of the tropical island of Maui.
Have been photographing natural beauty and lyrical environments all week long. Tomorrow we will be shooting a contemporary condo on the shores edge for WestOne designs from Vancouver.
Swam today with sea turtles and angel fish just before getting caught in a tropical rainstorm. Somehow....rain feels different here.
Getting new inspirations for paintings - as I write this a diffused melon glow radiates across the stormy horizon as the sun tries to set behind a wall of misty clouds.
Farrah is keeping the shop open while I am here,and new arrivals are expected this week. I return to business Saturday, sigh.....

Thought I would share images of the Alberta House Pavilion, specifically the library lounge which I helped design. Prominently placed is tripod lamp that my partner Craig and I created from an antique surveyors tripod.The lamp will be available for purchase after the olympics for $1295.

Welcome to 2010!
Just to touch base & share what's new....

I am pleased to announce that some of my scenic photographic images, as above, have been selected for official Olympic greeting cards, and both myself and my partner Craig are involved creatively with the Alberta Olympic Pavilion. In association with creative director Mo-Ling Chui of brand.LIVE agency, I will be acting as a design consultant for the interiors and VIP lounge, while Craig will be documenting the amazing transformation of the Alberta House and filming special cultural events for albertabrand.com
Also, two images from my latest 'coastal winter' photographic series are being published as fine art reproduction posters.

My website has been updated, with 18 new images of paintings* and recent press on the 'as seen in' page such as the January issue of Canadian House & Home Magazine profiling Heather Ross [ in house]

Nothing says summer like this tiny lime green tree frog.
I captured these images while up the coast visiting friends,
taking advantage of the last days of August.............

While I really lament the end of long summer days,
I am very excited about the new treasures I am bringing in for the fall season, and am excited to return to Osoyoos again for a photo shoot during the wine festival.

Busy times here at Heather Ross [ in house ]
We have just returned from a fabulous weekend brainstorming in Banff for an exciting new project/client.
In the shop we have an new arrival of gorgeous modern/zen ceramics in all shapes colors and prices.

Please do check out the September issue of Canadian House & Home which features an editorial I shot and wrote on the lovely apartment of Kaili...she has a great eye and it is a unique and atmospheric space, which also features treasures from my shop.
Kaili has worked for me in the boutique from time to time, you may recognize her beautiful portrait in the story.

I also have a feature in the US publication Home by Design, showcasing the talent of interior designer Celine Pitre.

DESIGN WHO'S WHO DONATES TO AUCTION

Their cause UNICEF and the Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign, some of metropolitan Vancouver's leading furniture and furnishings designers and retailers and artists have donated inventory and expertise to an auction next week.

Inform Interiors, for example, has donated a $10,000 gift certificate. The painter, photographer (Canadian House & Home and Western Living) and retailer, Heather Ross, has donated an acrylic with an estimated value of $4,400. Brent Comber, the woodworker, has donated a $5,000 gift certificate that can be used towards a private commission or an already existing Comber.

The Unite with Art auction is scheduled for Wednesday, from 6 p.m., in the former Storyeum location in Vancouver's Gastown neighbourhood.

Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at unitewithart.com on the Internet or by calling UNICEF at 604-874-3666 ext. 8125

The May issue of Canadian House & home magazine is on stands now, with a feature I photographed and wrote on designer April Tidey's urban loft and summer cabin.

So it seems fitting to finally leave snowflakes and sugar shacks, for seashores and taco shacks!
We had the pleasure of being away on a photo assignment in the Baja and have returned with many magical memories and beautiful images.

September Surrender

This time of year always feels like the new year to me -a time for beginnings,
a time to surrender to the end of long summer days and prepare for a harvest of ideas & projects.
Thinking of heading to Spain in the fall, to collect new treasures and inspiration from afar.
Hoping we have a gentle Indian Summer and that the harvest is fruitful. It is time to paint again!

Transitions

Well summer is in full swing & what a wonderful summer it has been!
We are now settled into our new location next door. We hope you will come visit soon and enjoy the spacious atmosphere...thanks to all those who helped make the transition such a smooth event. I was so happy to have my sister visit from Italy [ see photo top left ]she was invaluable to me during this exciting time. The Launch was a great success, and we have been very busy collaborating on many creative projects. I had the pleasure of working with Craig, Evangeline and a bunch of new moms...and moms to be, art directing a dvd.
The sun shone as we shot under the weeping willows down at Jericho beach, and the happy healthy energy radiated from everyone. What a beautiful group of people to be surrounded by.
The large article in The Vancouver Sun brought curious new clients through my doors, and many works in painting and photography have gone to good homes over the past few weeks.
It has been a magical season of eclipses, shooting stars and lots of sunshine for this Leo girl.
